Traditional Food Systems and Sustainable Agriculture
Dr Chimwemwe Tembo
Chimi is passionate about the development of indigenous food systems through conservation and sustainable use of wild food products. She is an expert in the sustainability of utilising African wild edible orchids in a traditional food system. With a degree in plant science, and a masters in Sustainable Agriculture, Chimi is currently consulting with Kruger, Swart and Associates in South Africa with a focus on the sustainable development of value chains in the BioTrade sector in Southern Africa.

Permaculture Education.
Country Director of SCOPE Zambia
Henry Chibutu
Henry is the Country Director for SCOPE Zambia, an NGO located in Lusaka, with presence in 5 other provinces. The organization promotes the use of permaculture and agro-ecology interventions in schools, colleges and within communities. He is a Mandela Washington Fellow with a degree in Agriculture Science from the University of Zambia (major in Crop Science) and a Masters degree in Project Management. Henry has previously worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Churches Health Association of Zambia.

Public Health and Nutrition
Dr Linia Patel
Linia is passionate about translating nutrition science into easy-to-digest advice as well as into practical and effective health policies. Her current research is in nutrition epidemiology, chronic disease outcomes and sustainable nutrition. She is a registered dietitian with experience in multiple nutrition settings. Linia helped to establish the nutrition degree at the University of Zambia and currently holds a post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Milan, Italy. She also works as a freelance nutrition consultant in a global capacity, with a personal interest in women’s health, healthy ageing and making Zambia a better place for all.

Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security
Julia Harper
Julia has 14 years of project management experience in Food Systems at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Her role as a research programme manager means that she develops projects that take a systems approach to food security. She established the MSc programmes at the university in Sustainable Agriculture and in Food and Nutrition Security.

Climate Change Science
Professor Ivan Haigh
Ivan was born in Mwinilunga Zambia, and lived there for 20 years before moving to the UK. He is now a professor of sea-level rise and coastal impacts at the University of Southampton, UK. Ivan’s expertise is in the effect of climate change on sea-levels and extreme events. His current work is investigating how to translate the results of regional and global studies, to local scales in practical terms, and in ways that will aid coastal management in coastal cities, deltas and small islands.
