About the event
Professor Rhett Harrison will talk to us about his latest project on utilising agroforestry portfolios to support a nutritious diet. Prof. Harrison is an ecologist with over 25 years of experience working in the agroforestry sphere, the last 20 of which have been with CIFOR-ICRAF in Zambia. He did his PhD at Kyoto University, Japan -- studying on plant insect interactions in a Bornean rain forest. Since then he has worked across the tropics including in Papua New Guinea, Central and South America, SE Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. His main research interests include measurement and monitoring of biodiversity, understanding ecosystem functions of biodiversity, restoration, conservation and agroecology. He is Editor-in-Chief of Biotropica, the journal of the Association for Tropical Biology & Conservation.
His current work focuses on agroforestry themes around restoration of forest landscapes, and ecosystem services - such as tree monoculture and creating rubber. He is also a proponent…
